Oman Air adds Abu Dhabi to network with new daily Muscat flights
Route expansion opens more travel options between two Gulf capitals
ABU DHABI – Oman Air is set to launch a new daily direct flight service connecting Muscat and Abu Dhabi from July 9, 2026, expanding travel options between the capitals of Oman and the UAE.
The new route will strengthen the airline’s presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) while providing passengers with easier access to onward connections through Abu Dhabi. The service marks another step in Oman Air’s ongoing network expansion, bringing its total destinations to 49.
Muscat-Abu Dhabi flights
The new Muscat-Abu Dhabi route will operate one flight every day, offering a direct link between the two cities. The short journey, which typically takes around an hour in the air, is expected to provide a convenient option for business travellers, tourists and passengers connecting through Abu Dhabi’s aviation network.
With the addition of Abu Dhabi, Oman Air’s network will include 10 destinations across the GCC. The airline said the new service reflects its focus on improving regional connectivity while supporting tourism, trade and investment links between Oman, the UAE and the wider region.

Abu Dhabi has become the latest destination added to Oman Air’s expanding route map. The airline has introduced several new services this year, including flights from Muscat to Taif in Saudi Arabia in January, along with announced routes to Singapore, Tashkent in Uzbekistan and Sochi in Russia.
The carrier is also preparing to launch a new direct Dubai–Salalah service in July. The seasonal route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, providing additional access to Salalah, which attracts visitors during the khareef season for its cooler weather, green landscapes and coastal attractions.
Flight details
Oman Air has not yet released the confirmed departure and arrival timings or the aircraft type for the new Muscat-Abu Dhabi service. The airline is expected to publish the full schedule ahead of the launch date.
The daily flights will operate between Muscat International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport, creating a direct connection between two key aviation hubs in the region. The route will also support passengers looking for onward travel opportunities through Abu Dhabi.
Oman Air Chief Executive Officer Con Korfiatis said Abu Dhabi was a natural addition to the airline’s network due to its importance as a regional business and travel centre. He added that the airline’s network strategy focuses on destinations that provide long-term value for passengers while supporting Oman’s wider economic goals.
Oman Air’s latest expansion comes as airlines across the region continue adjusting their networks and restoring connectivity following operational challenges caused by recent developments in the Middle East. As air travel demand continues to grow, carriers have been adding new routes and increasing links between regional markets.
